Javier Aponte Rodríguez, was born November 29, 1974 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. His parents are Julio Aponte Acosta and María Elena Rodríguez Nolasco. Since childhood, Javier wanted to be a musician and obviously, a drummer. At the age of 8, Javier was his church drummer and by the age of 12 he receives his first drumset as a gift from his Grandpa Mr. Julio Aponte Ortiz, a Tama Artstar Custom. With just 15 years of age, Javier was drummer for various Christian artists and bands such as: Oikos, Hosannas De Borinquen, Linda González and Maribel Soto.
Javier always studied his instrument in a very profound and passionate manner. This way he obtains his voice and style in the instrument. Javier has been recently working in a variety of music styles with artists such as: Latin Grammy artist Vico C (Hip-Hop), Olem (Fusion Jazz), Luis Rojas (Pop Rock), Ignacio Peña (Alternative), Latin Grammy artist Olga Tañón (Merengue), Hosannas De Borinquen (Folk), Latin Grammy artist Don Omar (Reggaeton) and Latin Grammy artist Mónica Rodríguez (Gospel, pop music).
Javier’s professional status is independent, which gives him the opportunity to work in very wide and diverse musical situations. He is also a well known recording session drummer all around the country, working sessions at his home studio, The DrumLab and in recording studios across Puerto Rico. Javier is also an educator, constantly publishing short lessons on his YouTube channel ‘thejavi777’ and teaching private lessons in his recording studio.
